Tunnel-Shaped Wall Planting of Strobilanthes, Plectranthus and Coleus
Persian shield (Strobilanthes) is a very dramatic annual planting for living walls. The rich purple foliage has a silvery sheen that shimmers in the sunlight, and it pops against contrasting colors and textures. Here, it is paired nicely with a red-leaved Coleus cultivar and a soft green, semi-succulent Plectranthus. The center-most planting is the compact selection Little Ruby™ Joseph’s Coat (Alternanthera dentata ‘Little Ruby’).
In this outdoor living wall application using the LiveWall Standard Planters, the plants are arranged in “shrinking rectangles,” which provide a tunnel-like visual effect.
