Grand Rapids Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) Outdoor Living Walls
The Grand Rapids Department of Environmental Services operates the Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) at 1300 Market Avenue SW. The facility collects and treats approximately 40 million gallons of wastewater each day!
The office exterior includes green walls that symbolize the department’s commitment to stewardship of resources and preservation of green spaces. Cold hardy perennials blanket the wall with a flowing pattern that resembles waves. These living walls provide natural cooling and odor reduction.
Members of the public over the age of 8 years are welcome to visits and learn more about the water cycle and modern storm-water management practices. Contact the City of Grand Rapids to schedule a 90 minute tour of the facility.
