234 Market Apartments’ Green Wall

234 Market Apartments opened in 2017 in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan.  As demand for urban living has grown in the second most populous city in the state, developers like Rockford Construction Co. and Wolverine Building Group have been stepping up to meet the needs of local residents.

234 Market is one of the largest and newest of recent developments.  Along with a collection of micro, studio, 1 bedroom, and 2 bedroom apartment homes with ample community amenities, the building also offers options for leasing commercial office and retail space.

One of the welcoming features of the modern building is a perennial green wall planting with a simple arch pattern of green and purple-leaved plants.  The living wall measures 18′ 8″ wide by 6′ 3-3/8″ tall.  The plants pictured here include: Nepeta x faassenii ‘Walker’s Low’, Sedum takesimense ‘Gold Carpet, Geranium macrorrhizum ‘Bevan’s’, and Heuchera americana ‘Palace Purple.
