While perennial plants easily survive year-round in mild or warm winter climates, In a cold winter climate like Lansing Michigan, there exists only a limited palette of perennials that can survive the winter. Plants like big root geranium and ‘Palace Purple’ Heuchera, Sedum ‘Tall Bob’ and a few others can survive if properly cared for and covered during the winter. But, for many customers in cold climates, annuals are preferred. They yield a fresh look each year, predictable cost, and colorful flowers and foliage throughout the entire growing season.
