Grand Rapids Downtown Market Features a Green Wall

The Downtown Market‘s living wall has showcased a wide variety of plantings since its installation in 2013.  This planting features large-leaved billowing tropicals, selected for their compatible light and water needs.  Plants include Swiss cheese plant (Monstera deliciosa), Philodendron ‘Rojo Congo’, bird’s nest fern (Asplenium nidus), and black bat plant (Tacca chantieri).

Located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the Market is a mixed-use facility that brings together local food production, education, and entrepreneurship opportunities. The indoor facility features a 20+ vendor market hall with two full-service restaurants.

The green wall is a popular backdrop for weddings and corporate events held in the Market’s meeting spaces or greenhouses.
